Ayant déjà trois albums à son actif, Manticora est un nom " culte " dans le milieu du " metal underground ", certains journalistes n'hésitant à voir en eux la réincarnation des premières heures de Savatage, Iced Earth ou Blind Guardian... Sans aller jusque là, il est clair que les membres de ce groupe, encore quasiment inconnu dans nos contrées, peuvent être considérés comme de véritables "spécialistes " du power metal ! Résolus à sortir de l'ombre, avec " 8 DEadly Sins " leur nouvel album, ils ont décidé de canaliser un peu plus leurs idées afin de développer un ambitieux concept autour de dix compositions ultra puissantes. Pour se faire, ils n'ont pas hésité à faire appel à Tommy Hansen, le célèbre producteur du " Keeper of Seven Keys… " d'Helloween et d'autres grands noms du heavy metal. Avec " 8 Deadly Sins ", Manticora a fait un grand pas en avant qui s'est concrétisé sur scène en février 2005, lorsque le groupe a assuré la première partie de la tournée Européenne d'Angra. Une série de concerts qui a montré que Manticora était également un redoutable groupe de scène ! MANTICORA was formed in 1997 by Lars (vocals), Kristian (guitars) and Mads (drums) - these three have made up the core of the band ever since. In the early days the band was a foursome with bass player Rene as the last member, but after 2 full length albums and one EP he got replaced by Kasper. From the early beginning the MANTICORA-trademark sound has remained; hard hitting power metal with both epic and thrash elements. Closest comparisons might be Iced Earth, Helloween, Blind Guardian and Savatage. Having played at various festivals around Europe, toured a lot in their home country of Denmark, and one smaller European tour, the band in early 2005 embarked on a very successful full-scaled European tour with Angra. Joining the core of Lars, Mads, Kasper and Kristian was second-guitarist Stefan Johansson and keyboardist Andreas Lindahl (ex-Platitude). Great response from the fans, and with their latest album "8 Deadly Sins" available, Manticora gained a lot of fans. "8 Deadly Sins", is a conceptual disc, this time about a man who, on his death bed, is reflecting on his past life and the decisions (right and wrong) that he has made and the sins he committed. The album was recorded in March/April 2004 in Jailhouse Studios with producer Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty Maids, HateSphere, TNT etc.). The sound is incredible - an audio experience of the largest scale! Joining the band on this album is keyboardist Finn Zierler (Beyond Twilight, ex-Twilight), making the overall sound more eerie and progressive. With "8 Deadly Sins" you get exactly what you could expect - a band evolving and fine-tuning all their best assets, be it the power metal side of their sound, or the dark/progressive mind.
