The early beginning of Pyramaze took form in the winter of 2001/2002, when the 24 year old guitarist Michael Kammeyer left his former band, Damion. With Pyramaze, Michael now had the idea of writing a complete album of own material in the melodic power metal style. In the summer of 2002 Michael found himself with enough material for the debut album, and didn't have to look far to find the first 2 persons to complete the band, as local drummer Morten Gade and bassist Niels Kvist immediately jumped on the opportunity to join Michael in his quest. The next person to be enrolled in the Pyramaze line-up, was the American keyboardist Jonah Weingarten, who Michael had met over the internet.

With a band around him, Michael booked the studio for the recordings of the debut album. To take care of the sound, the well-known producer Jacob Hansen was chosen - a man with a long list of fantastic productions behind him, ranging from Withering Surface and Illdisposed to Manticora and Ancient. In January 2003, Jonah flew to Denmark and the band began recording the CD. After having laid down all the tracks besides the vocals, producer Jacob decided to send a couple of MP3's to his long time friends at Intromental Management - a Danish metal agency, who already had worked together with Jacob on numerous recordings. The guys at Intromental fell totally in love with the Pyramaze material, and gave Michael a call. After a couple of phone conversations, the two parties, Pyramaze and Intromental, decided to join forces, and the band suddenly found themselves being promoted professionally, with all it encloses (including a certain "responsibility" to take themselves more seriously and believe in what they were doing).

One of the things that came with the signing to Intromental, was the decision of finding a singer, who not only would fit the material, but also be able to lift it to even higher levels. And that singer was soon found in American vocalist extraordinaire Lance King, known from such great power and progressive metal acts as Balance Of Power, Mattson, King's Machine and Gemini.

In spring 2004 Pyramaze signed with EMI-Toshiba for Japan, NTS / Replica Records for Europe and Nightmare Records for USA, and during May '04 the album was released to great reviews and media feedback, as well as incredible support from the fans worldwide. The first couple of gigs took place in USA in April 2004, followed by some incredible gigs in September '04 throughout selected European countries (Denmark, Germany and France).

Now integrated in the band is additional lead guitarist Toke Skjønneman. In the summer 2004 another couple of deals for the album release fell into place, when the band signed with Megahard Records for South America and with Melodic Heaven for Asia (except Japan of course).

In 2005 the band recorded their new disc - "Legend Of The Bone Carver", a conceptual disc of epic proportions. "Legend Of The Bone Carver" will be released through the following labels during February 2006; Massacre Records (Europe), Replica Records (France), Nightmare Records (USA), Melodic Heaven (Korea) and King Records (Japan).

And so Pyramaze became the band you have now - a fantastic unit of professional musicians, creating some of the best melodic power metal these days. A beautiful blend of bands like Iced Earth, Kamelot and Iron Maiden, with a nice progressive edge to it, and a bunch of really talented musicians.
